Attorney M. Scott Kleiman Appointed Special Magistrate for Cooper City
Davie, FL – M. Scott Kleiman, of the Law Firm of KALIS & KLEIMAN, has been appointed by the commission to serve a two year term as Special Magistrate for Cooper City, beginning August 2009.
As an attorney and member of the Florida Bar, Mr. Kleiman will preside over Code Enforcement matters. He has the jurisdiction and authority to hear and decide alleged violations and exercise the powers of a Code Enforcement Board as provided in chapter 162, Florida Statutes. As Special Magistrate, he also has the authority to subpoena people and records, hear cases involving suspected violations, order rulings on violations, assess fines and order liens to be placed upon property.
“The goal of the Code Enforcement Division is to bring properties into compliance with city code,” says Kleiman. “Property owners cited by a Code Enforcement Officer will be given a reasonable amount of time to bring their property into compliance before the case is referred to me.”
