Attorney Neal Kalis Commits and Participates in the Mentoring Picnic Program at Nova Southeastern University

Davie, FL – Commercial and Real Estate Attorney Neal Kalis, of the Law Firm KALIS & KLEIMAN, participated in Nova Southeastern University’s Mentoring Picnic program, held at the Shepard Broad Law Center campus in Davie, Florida, on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

"Participating in the Mentoring Picnic and Program gives me the opportunity to pass on insight, guidance and skills concerning the art and science of practicing law to students,” says Kalis. “Mentoring is a great element to help bridge the gap between what is taught in law schools and the practical, real-world skills needed to be a successful lawyer.”

In general, the mentoring program at Nova Southeaster University sets forth an agreement on the goals of the relationship, the rules regarding communication, specific responsibilities of each party, the boundaries of the relationship (what issues fall outside the relationship), what will be deemed confidential information, a release and hold harmless clause (regarding the Mentor’s professional liability), how and when the relationship will end, and any other terms agree to by the parties. Mentoring benefits both parties, providing an opportunity for professional and personal growth. A successful mentoring relationship also benefits the legal profession as a whole. Ideally, as a result of the mentoring relationship, the mentee will more quickly become a self-reliant, confident, and proficient practitioner, less likely to make professional mistakes.
